Finnish “Classics” for wind band

27.08.2025

In the project to arrange Finnish 20th century orchestral classics for wind orchestra we are proud to announce the following new arrangements:

Uuno Klami (arr. Pasi-Heikki Mikkola): Force 3 (Sea Pastoral) from Sea Pictures

Klami (1900-1961) was a major Finnish composer in the 20th century. He studied in Paris in the 1920s and absorbed the vibrant cosmopolitan culture into his music. His style is a fascinating blending of folk-music inspired motifs, solid craftmanship and colourful instrumentation. Sea Pictures (1931-32) is one of Klami’s main works. The entire suite is now available for the first time as a wind band transcription. Pasi-Heikki Mikkola’s arrangement is scored for large wind band, including mallets, piano and double bass. Einar Englund (arr. Elias Seppälä): Rumba from concert suite The Great Wall of China

Extracted from Einar Englund’s epic concert suite The Great Wall of China and arranged for wind band by Elias Seppälä, Rumba is an enthrilling concert number and a long-time favorite of concert orchestras. It recalls the era of great ballrooms and dance halls. Buy now
