Einojuhani Rautavaara ended his opera Aleksis Kivi (1995–1996) with the comforting words of The Song of my Heart: “Far from war and persecution, far from the cruel world.” He made the version for cello and piano in 2000, in memory of his composer colleague Lepo Sumera.
