Lotta Wennäkoski CDs score success

Two new CDs of Lotta Wennäkoski’s music were released last year, and both have received critical acclaim around the world. The Ondine CD “Sigla” by the Finnish RSO conducted by Nicholas Collon, won the British Gramophone Award for the best release in the contemporary category. It includes three works: Flounce, Sedecim and the harp concerto Sigla. According to the reviews “here is a composer with imagination and a strong ability to move, captivate and impress” and “Flounce (a BBC commission for Proms) is a splendid display of catching, and at times subtle, orchestral textures”.
The other CD entitled “Zeng” by Avanti! Chamber Orchestra includes four works by Wennäkoski.
