Pasi Lyytikäinen (born on 2 October 1975 in Lapinlahti, Finland) studied composition with Erkki Jokinen and Paavo Heininen at the Sibelius Academy and in masterclasses with Esa-Pekka SalonenMagnus LindbergMichael JarrellMarco Stroppa and others. His breakthrough came in 2005 with the premiere of the opera Helsinkiin (To Helsinki) which was based on the short novel of the same name by Juhani Aho. Other major works by him include his Degree Ceremony Cantata and the orchestral cycle Seven Songs for soprano and orchestra to poems by Saila Susiluoto. In 2000-01 Pasi Lyytikäinen was composer-in-residence of Lapinlahti Municipality and taught composition part-time in the Kuopio Department of the Sibelius Academy. He has also been involved in several teaching projects in the field of composing music. Lyytikäinen is the founder and artistic director of Pasimusic classical and contemporary music festival in the Northern Savo region in Finland.

Works by Lyytikäinen have been performed at several foreign festivals and venues such as the Shanghai New Music Week, Usedom Music Festival and Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. His Par was one of the prize-winners in the Tong Piano Duet Competition held in London in 2002. In 2007 the Zagros ensemble and the Kallio-Kuninkala Music Festival held a profile concert of his music at Järvenpää in Finland. The Kuopio Symphony Orchestra commissioned his Symphony No. 1 and premiered it in 2008. His other works include e.g. Jiän iänj (The Sound of Ice) for accordion, and vocal pieces such as the Chamber Vocalise (Kamarivokaliisi) for soprano and ensemble. Other pieces for chamber ensemble are Siinto (2017) and Taival (2018).

In 2020 Pasi Lyytikäinen finished his monologue opera Der unveröffentlichte Film der Eva Braun (The Unpublished Tape of Eva Braun), a 35 minute work for soprano and chamber ensemble of 9 players. It is an absurd, surreal description of the aging Eva Braun tracing her life, choices, emotions, regrets and forgotten dreams. This highly entertaining show also has its dramatic, more serious turns. The German libretto by Maritza Núñez is also available in English and Spanish. The opera was premiered at the Helsinki Contemporary Opera Festival (Helsingin oopperakesä) in 2021.
