Violin Blend 2024 (Viulukimara 2024) presents 18 pieces for two violins by eight Finnish composers, all written between 2014 and 2024. The works are suitable for a repertoire ranging from elementary to music institute levels, offering a rich spectrum of stylistically diverse music: from the shivering, dreamlike tones of Johanna Eränkö and Lotta Wennäkoski to Osmo Tapio Räihälä’s notes bubbling from hot springs; from the tonal tranquillity of Jennah Vainio to Maija Hynninen’s more restless evocations of natural phenomena; from Lauri Toivio’s spatial rhythms to the wistful singing of Outi Tarkiainen and the strangely effervescent world of Max Savikangas.
