Lotta Wennäkoski Receives State Recognition

Composer Lotta Wennäkoski received the First Class Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Lion of Finland on 5 June 2026. The distinction had been awarded to her by the President of the Republic on Finland’s Independence Day last year. The decoration was presented by Osmo Tapio Räihälä, Chair of the Society of Finnish Composers.

“I am extremely happy and proud to receive this decoration. My warm thanks go to those who nominated me and to the President of the Republic. At the heart of such recognition is a sense of belonging to a community. Over the years, I have done my best to represent the art of music, the profession of composers, and the Finnish nation in a variety of roles, and I also want to continue cherishing a sense of community in my life and work,” Wennäkoski said.
