Jean Sibelius: Theme and Variations

A work that was probably never performed in public during Sibelius’s lifetime. It dates from 1887 when Sibelius was 21 years, and the music owes much to Bach in terms of its style, although the theme on which the variations are based has a certain Finnish-Nordic flavour. It was refound and performed in 1995 and also recorded on the BIS label.
